North Carolina Man Says Eagles' Fletcher Cox Seduced His Wife, And He’s Suing
With five and a half sacks, one forced fumble and 15 tackles, Fletcher Cox has helped power the Philadelphia Eagles to a 10-1 record, which stands as the best record in the NFL this season.
But don't try telling that to one North Carolina man.
The Charlotte Observer reported earlier in the week that the Eagles' two-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle is being sued by a Huntersville, North Carolina, man, who claims Cox seduced his wife and ruined their marriage. The newspaper says that Joshua Jeffords is seeking $50,000 in damages from Cox, who inked a six-year, $102 million contract with the Eagles last year.
According to the lawsuit, as reported by the Charlotte Observer, Jeffords says he and his wife were happily married until this past September, when he claims to have discovered explicit text messages between his wife and Cox.
Jeffords says his wife sent messages to Cox, calling the defensive tackle “boo” and saying she was “loving everything you have to say," “I really like you," "we’d make some damn beautiful babies” and “I want to get to know you babe. I know we are compatible sexually," as reported by the Charlotte Observer.
Jeffords also alleges that Cox sent his wife a photo of his genitals via Snapchat.
Cox is being sued for alienation of affection, while Jeffords claims that he had to seek mental health treatment for “substantial emotional distress,” as part of his lawsuit against the NFL star.
Jeffords' lawyer, Christopher Adkins, told the Observer's local news partner WBTV that his client would have gone through with the lawsuit regardless of whether Cox was famous or not.
“We would be doing this if it was anybody,” Adkins told the station. “Mr. Cox’s actions have driven that wedge in between the marriage of Mr. Jeffords and Mrs. Jeffords and have completely destroyed and ruined that relationship.”
Cox hasn't addressed the lawsuit.
