Rachel Dolezal Doesn't Think She's a Con Artist, Do You?

Former NAACP chapter prez continues her press tour.

Rachel Dolezal continued her NBC press rounds with an interview with MSNBC's Melissa Harris-Perry on Tuesday.
In three clips below, watch as the former NAACP chapter president talks about blackness, her racial identity and her response to people who are outraged at her story.

"Stepping outside of myself, I would probably be enraged. How dare she?" she says in response to people who are upset about her story. "But they don’t know me. And they don’t know what I’ve actually walked through and how hard it is."

Harris-Perry asks how Dolezal connects to the Black experience, and she credited raising her own African-American children and her parents' adopted Black children.

“Sometimes decisions have been made for survival reasons or to protect people that I love,” she said. “When it comes to being there for my kids or my sister, I will never stand down on that. It’s been hard for me to be there for myself because my life and my path and journey has been to be heavily aware of the needs of other people.”
