Stories about people dying in police custody continue to surface. The FBI is joining the investigation into the death of Michael Sabbie, an African-American man who was found unresponsive in a cell at the Bi-State Justice Center by himself in Texarkana, Arkansas, on Wednesday, July 22.

The 35-year-old man had reportedly been arrested for domestic assault, TXKToday reports. Around 6:30 p.m., the facility's personnel found him unresponsive. Staff performed CPR on Sabbie and called paramedics, according to the Texarkana Police Department. He was pronounced dead at the jail shortly after.

Sources close to the investigation say that Sabbie was sprayed with a chemical agent while in jail, though no official information has been released yet.
Sabbie's final status on his Facebook page was a heartfelt message to his children on July 19.

"Thank God for my kids they keep me going and give me the most love..."
