Justice Served: Father Charged With Manslaughter After Leaving 15-Month-Old Twins In Hot Car

Witnesses said he tried to cool them down, but it was tragically too late.

A combination of the summer heat and alleged negligence of two 15-month-old twin girls proved to be deadly, with the toddlers passing away after a father reportedly abandoned them in a hot car.

As reportedAsa North has been charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter as a result of the tragic incident, as well as a charge of reckless conduct. It also appears likely that his charges could be upgraded to second degree murder, depending on how the investigation goes.

The Georgia father is currently being held without bail and will appear in court on September 2.

While police are still investigating the exact cause of death, it appeared to have been due to the young children overheated. In a new development, the Associated Press reports that alcohol may have been a factor. The 24-year-old father had a blood sample taken and police are still awaiting the results.

The unresponsive twins were taken to a nearby hospital where they later were pronounced dead. It has not yet been determined how long they were left in the vehicle. When officers arrived on the scene, North was allegedly trying to cool them down with water and was rushing the girls to a nearby inflatable pool.

The mother of the young girls was reportedly in Atlanta during the time of the heartbreaking incident.
