Nicki Minaj: I Did Crazy Voices Before Kendrick Lamar

K-Dot's different characters sound very familiar to YMCMB's first lady.

With The Pinkprint now out in stores, Nick Minaj has been busy on the promotional scene.

On Tuesday (Dec. 16) night, the rapper became the latest guest to sit with Elliott Wilson for his CRWN series, and Kendrick Lamar came up in the conversation.

During the chat, the 32-year-old Queens native spoke about not getting acknowledgment for one of her signature moves –– shape shifting into different characters over a beat (i.e., Roman Zolanski) –– and she’s noticed that K-Dot has been doing the same. "It takes skill, and then I see people doing it now," she explained. “Sometimes, when I hear animated things that Kendrick Lamar does… I respect and like him, but when I paid attention to certain things he does, I think to myself, ‘I did that.’”

Minaj doesn't have a problem with giving herself credit when it's due. The "Bed of Lies" spitter bestowed more praise upon herself during the interview, pointing out how she dominates the rap game. “I am the greatest female rapper, and it’s humbling because the people make you that,” Minaj stated. “I wanna let hip hop culture know I take this serious.”

The YMCMB Barbie's entire CRWN interview debuts on WatchLoud.com later today.
