According to Chuck D, LL Cool J Should Be in the Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame Before Tupac
There’s no doubt that Tupac’s nomination into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was big for hip-hop.
Just after the 20th anniversary of the West Coast legend’s death, hip-hop pioneer Chuck D says he agrees with the induction, but looks at all this through a different lens. The Public Enemy emcee took to Twitter and said ‘Pac’s potential induction should come after an LL Cool J entry.
“Got forever love for PAC BUT there AINT a solo rap act that should get in the RRHOF before @llcoolj I Dont care about what naysayers think,” he tweeted. “When @llcoolj entered the rap game there was NOTHING close to the blizzard he came in the game with.1 dude rearranged records & performance.”
The social media site exploded with others claiming Pac’s influence on the culture greater than LL’s. Chuck argued that point by saying LL made room for the possibility of a Tupac Shakur to make the impact he did.
Tupac was just among a bunch of acts up for induction. Janet Jackson, Pearl Jam, Jane’s Addiction and Joan Baez were all nominated by the Rock Hall earlier this month.
