Has the Official Track Listing for Yasiin Bey’s Final Record Surfaced?

Curious how trustworthy this track-listing info is.

It’s not all too uncommon for celebrity musicians to announce their retirements from music, and for all of us to be delighted — but not too surprised — when artists come crawling back to the spotlight.

However, Yasiin Bey (formerly Mos Def) may very well be serious about working on his final studio album, especially given his recent passport setback in South Africa. With an image surfacing showcasing a play list of 11 tracks, titled Negus 1, we could be looking at the components of Bey’s final opus.

In an announcement he made by way of KanyeWest.com, during a freestyle-esque play off Ye’s “No More Parties in L.A.,” the rapper shared that his next album will be his last one alongside a passionate and still somewhat cryptic explanation of his current situation in South Africa. Bey is apparently still on house arrest after customs refused to accept his world passport document. The rapper is set to appear in court in March to work through the legality of him being able to leave the country in peace.

The track list originally appeared on an Instagram account that later was proven to be unofficial. However, as reported by Okayplayer, Ferrari Sheppard also tweeted the photo out — and Sheppard has been a reliable source in Bey’s camp in the past. The photos have since been deleted, but word is definitely out about Bey's possible last contributions to music.

A release date has yet to be officially announced, so this is a mysterious teaser that alludes to the fact that Bey is spending time in the studio before retiring from the entertainment industry at large.

While we wait for more facts to present themselves, one thing is for sure certain: music is certainly going to miss this man.
