Big Sean goes on the record about his split from Naya Rivera in the new issue of Complex magazine.

During his talk with the magazine, which took place partly in his hometown of Detroit and in L.A., where he currently lives, the 26-year-old rapper spoke about the transformation he’s gone through over the last year or so and the accusation that he stole Rivera’s Rolex.

“First of all, why would I have to steal a Rolex?” Sean said. “Second of all, every Rolex that I have, I have receipts for, papers for, certificates of authenticity for. I would never steal a Rolex from anybody. You see that Tweet got deleted in like 20 seconds.”

Rivera’s public announcement was unnecessary but not shocking, he went on to say. “Even though I didn’t steal anything, I wasn’t surprised by it.”

On his new relationship, with Ariana Grande, the G.O.O.D. Music recording artist explained how he took things slow with the former Nickelodeon star. Rather than jump right into a relationship, the two built a friendship first, something Sean had never done before.

He also talks about “Control” (and knowing it was going to blow up once Kendrick Lamar started naming names), Ferguson and why Dark Sky Paradise is a “perfect” album title. “There were a lot of thunderstorms in my life. A lot of rumbling, a lot of lightning. Then sunshine came.”
