Jazmine Sullivan Covers Nina Simone's 'Baltimore'

Jazmine Sullivan covers Nina Simone's 1978 classic.

As Nina Simone once said, “An artist should always be a reflection of the times.”

Just ask Jazmine Sullivan, the soulful songstress who is lending her voice to a cover that couldn’t be timelier. “Baltimore,” the 1978 cover song performed by the late jazz legend Nina Simone, will be featured in the forthcoming Netflix original documentary What Happened, Miss Simone?

The documentary, which will feature never before seen interviews, diaries, letters and songs, will tell the story of the Black power heroine like never before.

Alongside the moving documentary will be and even better tribute album featuring Mary J. Blige, Common and the always socially conscious Ms. Lauryn Hill.

Sullivan’s cover of “Baltimore” is the first single from the album to hit the Internet, packaged with a video permeated with images from the tragedies in Baltimore and interviews with Simone and Angela Davis.
