Trey Songz Gets In His Feelings on His 31st Birthday
Trey Songz turned 31 this weekend, and the birthday seemed to have stirred up some self-reflection within the singer. The R&B star, born Tremaine Neverson, decided to put pen to paper and pour his heart out to his fans in an emotional open letter.
"A lot of people place me on a pedestal and sometimes I fall short," he writes. "... I'm going through some s**t like we all are. I look in the mirror and I judge myself like we all do. I want to make it to the better version of myself."
He goes on to explain that — besides this letter — he tries to keep his feelings contained in his songs. "My brightest days and my darkest hours come through in my music," he writes.
After revealing that a friend he played some new music for described the songs as "dark," Trigga hints at new material on the way. "This letter could be a lot longer but I just put it in the songs," he continues. "I give you my love, my confusion, my worries, my happiness, my sadness, my music."
He delivered a mixtape the same day, To Whom It May Concern (listen below).
