Chrisette Michele Exchanges Words With Amanda Seales Over Her 'Black Lives Matter' Song

The R&B songstress didn't hesitate to offer some classy clapback.

While it's been over a year since Chrisette Michele was shunned from cookouts virtually everywhere for performing at Donald Trump's inauguration, it appears as though the R&B starlet still can't seem to catch a break.

In the wake of releasing a new single, "Black Lives Matter," Chrisette was admonished by the Internet. The politically charged ballad even caught the attention of comedian Amanda Seales, who didn't hesitate to further criticize the singer for her latest effort.

Upon the release of "Black Lives Matter," Amanda swiftly took to Instagram to address Chrisette by posting a meme mocking the fresh single. "No," the comedian simply captioned the post. The former Capitol Records signee eventually caught wind of the shade and cordially responded in a lengthy post. "I've watched you over the years, I've spent time seeing your stand up and even enjoying your material online," Chrisette began her response. "It was such a beautiful moment when you walked into everybody's favorite tv show "Insecure" and killed the game."

"Your tenacity for social justice and your cultural critique and intelligence is un-paralleled," she continued. "I know you have reservations about my choices over the last year. I've done just as much thinking and acknowledgement of sentiments like yours as I've done of my own. I've apologized both in public and on private stages for the pain I've caused our community."

"Might women like us unify and bring the conversation of #StrongBlackWomen and women supporting women," Chrisette added. To which Amanda further elaborated on her stance via Instagram video, saying "[The song] just seems disingenuous, it seems more like pandering and marketing."

"You know, I just be telling my truth and I be feeling my truth," she added.
