The millions of people who watched Shady 2.0 demolish The Cypher at the BET Awards last fall already know: Slaughterhouse is the truth. And it only makes sense that four of hip hop's hardest-spitting rap tacticians would be signed to Eminem, surely one of the greatest MCs to ever walk this planet. Slim certainly seems to think so; he seemed proud as ever last night (August 9) on his Shade 45 Sirius radio station in New York, where he sat down with Sway Calloway and Slaughterhouse at a special listening session to promote Welcome To: Our House, the quartet's upcoming major-label debut.

"I feel like hip hop needs this," Eminem said of the album, due in stores August 28.

Slim explained to the room of journalists, bloggers and industry folks attending the event that
he was extremely hands on with the album, sometimes spending weeks mixing and tweaking one single song — a perfectionism that brings to mind his mentor, Dr. Dre. "All of Dre's little tricks, I've stolen over the years," said Em.

For their part, Slaughterhouse said that unlike their self-titled debut — which was recorded in just a week — this album will go a whole lot deeper than battle rapping and proving who's the nicest. "Nobody's in there trying to compete," Joe Budden said.

"It's about making songs now, trying to take that next step," Em added.

Crooked I clarified the point further, explaining that he and his bandmates wanted to show a more personal side with this release. "When you have a great album, you should know that artist a little more from the intro to the outro," he said.

Slaughterhouse and Eminem capped off the night with a surprise performance at a G-Shock event at the Manhattan Center. It's looking like it's going to be a Shady summer.
