Chance The Rapper Hosting Virtual Christmas Concert
Chance The Rapper is set to host a surprise virtual concert on Dec. 18.
Chi-Town Christmas is a new festive special that will be released on YouTube and Instagram on Dec. 18 at 9 PM EST. Additionally, it will premiere on VR on Oculus.
The show will be built around Merry Christmas Lil’ Mama: The Gift That Keeps on Giving, Chance's joint project with Jeremih, which is now available for the first time on all streaming platforms. This repackaging of the Merry Christmas Lil' Mama and the Re-Wrapped installment released in 2016 and 2017 also features two new songs from Chance. .
According to a press release, the one-hour event will "feature incredible visual and live vocal performances" from songs off the recently re-released album.
The news of the re-release of the album, and the performance, come at a special time for Jeremih after he was discharged from the hospital after a scary battle with COVID-19.
Speaking on Sway's Universe, Jeremih explained what his hospital stay was like while being near death. “I had a tube down my throat for about a week and a half," he said. "I was really like, in a dream. I woke up two times, and all I remember seeing is a white light.”
"I’ve never been to a hospital in my entire life," he added. "Not for a broken bone, not for nothing. So, just to be in there, I look at it as a blessing. As crazy as it might sound, I needed to sit down. I needed to take a break.”
