Jeremih Details His COVID-19 Experience

“All I remember seeing is white light."

Jeremih is out of the hospital after recovering from COVID-19 severe complications, and now, the singer is speaking about the harrowing experience he went through. 

Speaking with Sway’s Universe, Jeremih explained feeling so bad that he didn’t even remember when he arrived at  the hospital. “I had a tube down my throat for about a week and a half," he said. "I was really like, in a dream. I woke up two times, and all I remember seeing is a white light.”

The singer also talked about the impact that COVID-19 had on his organs. He revealed how the virus affected his heart, kidneys and liver. 

“All my organs became inflamed,” he said. “My heart started beating irregularly, my kidneys went out, my liver started to go bad. Mind you, I didn’t know what was going on at the time. I was out."

Though the experience was an extremely dangerous one, Jeremih looks at it as something positive. 

"I’ve never been to a hospital in my entire life," he said. "Not for a broken bone, not for nothing. So, just to be in there, I look at it as a blessing. As crazy as it might sound, I needed to sit down. I needed to take a break.”

The singer and rapper was released from a Chicago hospital on Dec. 3 after spending weeks battling COVID-19 and its side effects. 

In a statement to Billboard, he spoke about the love and support he received from multiple parties. 

"First and foremost, I would like to thank God and the incredible team of doctors and nurses at Northwestern Memorial Hospital for saving my life. I will be forever grateful," he said. "I would also like to thank my family and friends for all their prayers and well wishes. I'm overwhelmed with gratitude."
