Kendrick Lamar Gets His First No. 1 With 'Bad Blood'

Taylor Swift feature gives K Dot the pop stamp of approval.

The Compton kid is now a certified popular music star.

Kendrick Lamar scored his first-ever Hot 100 chart-topper with his surprise verse on Taylor Swift's "Bad Blood." The pop-country princess, a.k.a. New York's "Global Welcome" Ambassador, debuted his verse when she premiered the video at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards.

"Having a @billboard Hot 100 #1 with @kendricklamar is too exciting for me to even process. LOOK WHAT YOU GUYS DID," she tweeted in congratulations. Swift had originally released the song solo via her 1989 album. It peaked at No. 80 on the chart in November.

K Dot, not entirely new to being "first," scored a No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with To Pimp a Butterfly, and upwards of a No. 8 on the songs chart with A$AP Rocky's "F***in' Problems," co-featuring Drake and 2 Chainz.

As for his own efforts, "B***h, Don't Kill My Vibe" is his highest-charting yet, so far peaking at No. 32 and besting the little ditty everyone considered a pop attempt, "i," which has reached No. 39.

Billboard's Hot 100 chart represents radio play, streams, and sales.
