Gucci Mane And Jeezy’s Record-Breaking ‘Verzuz’ Stats Revealed

Swizz Beatz shared the record-breaking numbers for the ‘Verzuz’ season two opener.

Rappers Gucci Mane and Jeezy defeated all odds and broke new records for the online music streaming series on Thursday (Nov. 19) in the season two kickoff of Verzuz

Swizz Beatz, co-creator of Verzuz, shared the record-breaking numbers in an Instagram post Saturday (Nov. 21), writing that the Atlanta rappers broke an “all-time livestream viewership record,” with 9.1 million people who tuned into the “legendary showdown.”

Swizz also noted that viewership from Verzuz battles this year have sky-rocketed ratings over the MTV VMA’s, NBC’s The Voice, the Billboard Awards, the CMA’s, the Latin Grammy’s, Dancing With The Stars or the Masked Singer, “respectively on any given night for those primetime shows this year.”

“[O]ur culture has made us the top show in the world for music outside of The Grammy’s,” he writes in the post.

The Verzuz battle itself came with some tense moments as Gucci played several diss tracks towards Jeezy, including “The Truth,” which made references to Pookie Loc’s death, a rapper and member of Jeezy’s crew who was shot and killed in 2005 reportedly by Gucci. He was acquitted in early 2006 claiming self-defense.

Gucci, however, rapped his way through some of his fan faves including, “Lemonade;” “745;” “I Get the Bag,” featuring Migos; and “Wasted,” featuring Plies.

Jeezy maintained his composure during the battle, playing a few of his iconic songs including “Soul Survivor;” “Jeezy the Snowman;” “Put On,” featuring Kanye West; and “Lost My Mind,” featuring Plies.

Despite the tension, Jeezy made it clear that he wanted to do the performance for the culture. The pair closed out the night with their collaborative hit, “So Icy.”
