What Is Waist Training?

 - Corset-waist training is when you wear a corset or body shaper for hours at a time. By repeating this overtime, it’s thought that this will gradually train your body to take the form of an hourglass.

Chafes Your Skin

 - Chafing is when your skin rubs together over time and gets irritated, red and even sometimes produces a rash. Because chafing mostly happens when your skin is moist, wearing these too-tight corsets, which cause you to sweat, can definitely chafe your skin.  (Photo: Radius Images/Getty Images)

Is it Harmful? - While the medical community is split on whether or not oil pulling actually works, they are certain that it’s not harmful. Reminder: swish and gargle, don't swallow.    (Photo: GettyImages)

Makes It Hard to Breathe  - Think how hard it is to breathe if your jeans or dress are too tight. Corsets can press hard on your body and can restrict your lungs, making it harder for you to breathe. They can also cause lung infections, induce acid reflux and make it hard for you to use the bathroom.

Can Harm Your Internal Organs

 - In a recent Huffington Post article, three doctors sounded off on the dangers of wearing shapewear such as Spanx. The experts claim that because shapewear’s job is to condense your problem areas, it can compress your stomach, intestines and colon. (Photo: shank_ali/GettyImages)

 It Doesn’t Even Really Work

 - Here's the thing: Even if wearing a corset wasn’t potentially dangerous, it just doesn't work. If you want to lose weight, diet and exercise is the best way to go, not fad weight loss trends.(Photo: laflor/Getty Images)
