Laverne Cox Drops Hints About Her Emmys Look

The OITNB actress explains her "FFPS" fashion philosophy.

Laverne Cox is a budding style icon and one of the stars whose red carpet look we are most excited to see at next Monday's Emmy Awards. Now, the Orange Is the New Black star and first-time nominee is giving fans a few clues as to what we can expect from her on television's biggest night.
First up, the wig. “It’s still being hand-sewn,” Cox tells People.com about her custom-designed hair piece. “They do a mold of your head with plastic. It didn’t take very long. We selected like six or eight shades of hair — and it was like 26 inches long! We’re going to layer it.”
Next, the dress. “I can’t tell you the designer yet, but [he or she] gave us a few options of things, we picked what we liked and it was made for my body," Cox says. While she's keeping mum about her couture, Cox does share a bit of her style mantra. “Color is important, but silhouette [is key],” she explains. “I have a fashion philosophy: ‘FFPS.’ Fit, Fabric, Proportion, Silhouette. So all of those things are really important — color too — but FFPS is sort of my philosophy and I go that way.”
Cox was nominated for her first Emmy Award this year, for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series. She ended up losing out to her OITNB co-star Uzo Aduba (the award was presented at the Creative Arts Emmys this past Sunday), but she will be attending Monday's Primetime Emmy Awards to support her colleagues from the hit Netflix series, including Best Lead Actress in a Comedy Series nominee Taylor Schilling.
Can't wait to see how Cox turns it out on the red carpet!
