Watch: This 'Love & Hip Hop Atlanta' Star Claims to Be Assaulted by Police
Celebrity arrests are commonplace nowadays and it seems like not a week goes by without seeing some star's mug shot on social media. But there's a big difference between reality show plotlines and the harsh reality of police brutality. A Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta star brought that contrast into sharp focus by sharing a series of videos of herself and her friends getting harassed by a cop on the side of the road.
The videos show this reality star, who's had plenty of run-ins with the law before, being yanked from the backseat of a vehicle, shoved to the ground and cuffed, seemingly without having her rights read to her.
Who is the star who bravely shared her scary experience with APD on social media, complete with dashcam video? That would be Tommie Lee.
Lee posted a series of clips to Instagram showing the ordeal. She has since deleted the clips, but Shade Room managed to capture them first.
She can be seen being dragged from the back of a Mercedes G-Wagon after refusing the cop's demands to exit the vehicle. You can see her brutally shoved to the ground and roughed up by a cop and then staggering to his squad car with her hands cuffed behind her back. In the videos that have been deleted, a male companion was seen being questioned by the same cop about who was driving and if anyone had been drinking, followed by another woman in the backseat, who tells cops she's pregnant and therefore had not been drinking.
As Tommie said in her original caption, "you be the judge" as to who was at fault and if cops overstepped their bounds in this case:
With incidents like this, it's no wonder there's so much public mistrust of police and a majority of Americans think race relations are worse than any time in recent memory. More on those troubling statistics with BET News above.
