Box Office: Furious 7 Stays on Top

Franchise's latest continues to set records.

As predicted, Furious 7 easily kept the number-one spot at the box office, bringing in an additional $60.6 million domestically for a worldwide total of $800.5 million in two weeks of release. The film, starring Vin Diesel, the late Paul Walker, Ludacris, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, and Dwayne Johnson, has made $252.2 million domestically to date, which is already more than the entire run of the previous installment Fast and Furious 6, which came in at $239 million overall.

Staying in second place was the animated feature Home, starring the voices of Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez and Jim Parsons, which brought in an additional $19 million. The Longest Ride, starring Britt Robertson and Scott Eastwood, took third place with an underwhelming $13.5 million debut. Rounding out the top five were Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart's comedy Get Hard and Disney’s Cinderella, which brought in $8.6 million and $7.2 million, respectively.
Next week, Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 will attempt to draw audiences away from Furious 7, while True Story, a drama-thriller starring Jonah Hill and James Franco, will go after those looking for a more cerebral cinematic experience.
