Would You Let Rachel Dolezal Braid Your Hair?

America's most famous "transracial" woman is taking appointments.

Since resigning from her post as the chapter president of the NAACP in Spokane, Washington, last month, Rachel Dolezal has had to find other ways to make ends meet. So the self-proclaimed "transracial" educator and activist turned to what she does best: Black hair.
In Sunday's Vanity Fair profile of the controversial figure, Dolezal revealed that she's pulling in extra cash braiding and weaving Black hair. The former Africana studies professor, who once taught a class on the politics of Black hair, says she books at least three appointments a week taking care of edges, creating box braids and sewing in weaves.

WHAT TWITTER SAID: THE BEST TWEETS IN RESPONSE TO RACHEL DOLEZAL'S IDENTITY

Dolezal says she "developed a passion for taking care of and styling Black hair while in college in Mississippi," and perfected her craft while posing as a Black woman for the better part of a decade. The side hustle, though, isn't quite enough to pay her bills. “I’ve got to figure it out before August 1, because my last paycheck was like $1,800 in June,” she tells the magazine. “(I lost) friends and the jobs and the work and — oh, my God — so much at the same time.”
Can't blame a woman for trying to put her talents to use to make a dollar, especially since she has a 13-year-old son to support, but the gig certainly puts Dolezal back in Black Twitter's crosshairs.
