Amber Rose on Her Slut Walk: 'We're Allowed to Be Sexual Beings'

Sister Code star causes a stir at the film's LA premiere.

When she first came to fame as a former exotic dancer-turned-Kanye-West’s flame, few could have imagined that Amber Rose would become a movie star. At the Los Angeles premiere for the new film Sister Code, which is in theaters now, Amber created such a tremendous buzz that police had to shut the doors and turn people away from the packed theater.

Thankfully BET.com was able to catch the blonde vixen before she went inside to screen the movie, which includes Eva Marcille and Drew Sidora, and according to Rose, the mother of Wiz Khalifa's child, female celebrities could learn a thing or two from Sister Code, which focuses on the importance of support among female friends and family members. “[Among female celebrities] I don’t think there is competition,” Amber told BET.com. “I think that women make it a competition, but I don’t think it should be that way,” she added.

Going with the theme of empowerment, back in March, Amber announced the “Slut Walk,” in response to comments Kanye West made about taking “30 Showers” after dating her. Amber says the walk is in support of women, but is something men should get involved with as well.
“It’s for women to come out and walk for all equality issues like slut shaming, double standards, rape, sexual assault victims and men can walk for their wives, sisters, mothers, daughters,” Amber said of the event, which will take place in Los Angeles. “[Anyone can come out and] just raise awareness that as women, we’re allowed to be sexual beings, and we’re allowed to dress provocative and sexy, and we don’t necessarily want to have sex with you, or want to be touched, or want to be called sluts for that reason. So you can come out to protest and raise awareness.”

Sister Code starring Amber Rose, Eva Marcille and Drew Sidora and written by Walter Mosley Jr. opens in theaters everywhere today.
