RZA, Zoe Saldana Line Up New Projects for the Big Screen
RZA continues to prove that he's equally skilled at producing beats and directing films. The Wu-Tang Clan leader has lined up his third project as a director, the upcoming action-thriller Breakout. According to Variety, the film is set to begin production in early 2016.
Breakout centers around a young photographer that is falsely charged with drug trafficking while in Bangladesh. His wealthy father then concocts a scheme to break his son out of prison. No casting announcements have been made, though RZA himself just appeared in the indie drama Mr. Right at the Toronto Film Festival. Breakout is being produced by the same company as that film.
Meanwhile, Zoe Saldana — who is no stranger to fantasy worlds — will help Madison Wolfe tackle her demons in I Slay Giants, a graphic novel adaptation about a young girl who copes with life’s trials and tribulations by escaping into a fantasy world full of magic and monsters. Saldana will reportedly play a school psychologist who works with Wolfe's character.
The actress is also gearing up for the release of her Nina Simone biopic Nina, due out in December. See what she has to say about the backlash her participation in the film has generated below:
