Stand by Your Man: Camille Cosby Shuts Down Lawyers in Testimony

Bill Cosby's wife wasn't budging.

Camille Cosby remained tight-lipped during her recent deposition in a libel lawsuit brought by seven accusers against her husband, comedian Bill Cosby.

According to the New York Daily News, in a 15-page excerpt of the deposition released by Cosby's lawyers, Camille appeared defensive and mum the majority of the time, refusing to testify against her husband. During this time, the comedian's attorneys were trying to convince a judge that the civil suit should be paused pending his felony prosecution in Pennsylvania.

The deposition focuses on a series of exchanges between Camille and the plaintiff's lawyer Joseph Cammarata in a Springfield, Massachusetts, hotel on February 22.

They both went back and forth about her knowledge of the Andrea Constand case involving Cosby, where the former Temple University employee accused the former TV dad of drugging and sexually assaulting her at his Philadelphia mansion in 2004. While being questioned, Camille claimed she never even read the civil complaint Constand filed against her husband. She added that the only information she learned of the case came directly from her husband and an attorney.

"I don't remember," she repeatedly responded when asked of what she knew of the case.

She also said she was well aware her husband was deposed 10 years ago, but refused to provide specific details on whether or not they privately discussed the testimony. When asked if they ever discussed it, she replied, "I don't want to answer that."

When Cammarata told her that refusing to answer was not an option, she said, "That is communication between me and my husband."

When he firmly posed the question twice more, she repeatedly gave the same response. However, once instructed by one of her attorneys to reply with a simple "yes" or "no," she said, "Yes," before adding she couldn't remember when the conversation took place.
