Selma Wins Best Original Song at Critics' Choice Awards

Film was once again shut out from major categories.

Selma racked up another win for Best Original Song — and not much else — at the Critics' Choice Awards on Thursday evening. Ava DuVernay's acclaimed drama was once again shut out from the major categories, including Best Director and Best Actor for David Oyelowo, who portrays Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in the film.
The film nabbed noms for Best Picture and, of course, Best Original Song in the Oscar nominations that were announced yesterday, with many fans up in arms about the perceived snubs for DuVernay and Oyelowo.
Boyhood and Birdman took home the most wins, with Boyhood getting top honors with Best Picture.
The Critics' Choice Awards, hosted by Michael Strahan, kicked off with a bang this year. Strahan opened the show with a strip routine, giving audiences a sneak peek into what they have in store for Magic Mike 2.
