Are Jussie Smollett And His Sister Shopping A Movie About Being Falsely Accused?

The pair are allegedly pitching a film.

Hollywood siblings Jussie Smollett and Jurnee Smollett-Bell are allegedly shopping around a movie about a wrongfully accused brother and sister. 

According to Love B Scott, a source exclusively told the site the pair is developing the film and is seeking directors to work on the project. 

Based on the unidentified source’s tip, the new movie may be loosely based on Smollett’s hate crime and the allegations that his incident was made up.

The former Empire star dominated headlines early this year after he allegedly endured a hate crime in Chicago’s Streeterville neighborhood in January. 

The California native says he was attacked by two people who were “yelling out racial homophobic slurs” and “poured an unknown chemical substance on the victim,” according to police. One of the suspects allegedly put a rope around his neck during the attack. 

After conflicting reports, authorities began to suspect Smollett staged the entire attack due his disappointment in his Empire salary. He was indicted in March on 16 felony counts of disorderly conduct for making a false report.

In a stunning twists of events, all charges against the singer were suddenly dropped weeks after the alleged incident.

The 37-year-old now faces a new battle against the city of Chicago, who seeks $130,000 in damages from the actor to compensate for all the police manpower it required to solve his alleged hoax. Detectives were paid for 1,836 hours in overtime.

A status hearing is scheduled for Oct. 22.
