Marisa Tomei Joins Cast of Empire
Making a rare return to the small screen, Oscar-winning actress Marisa Tomei takes on a Meryl Streep-in-Devil Wears Prada-esque role on the new season of Empire.
Tomei, who became a household face with her breakout gigs on As The World Turns and A Different World, will appear as Mimi Whiteman, a Forbes-list billionaire who loves hip hop, social trends, high-end fashion and beautiful women. Though details are not yet revealed (the cast of Empire is good about that), The Hollywood Reporter confirms that her venture capitalist character plays an important, recurring role, mixing in with the Lyon clan.
The timing is good for Mimi Whiteman as Tomei will be joining a growing roster of guest stars slated for season two, like Alicia Keys, Lenny Kravitz, and Chris Rock; and the addition of Ne-Yo as a musical producer of the score.
Empire season two begins broadcast Sept. 23 on Fox.
