From Aaliyah to Whitney, television biopics go down some dangerous territory. There is no approval from the families, facts are seriously distorted and fans are outraged. The Bobbi Kristina biopic, which doesn't air until October 8 on TV One, is getting the same backlash. And Bobbi's father is especially pissed.

On January 31, 2015, just a few weeks before the the third anniversary of Whitney Houston's death. Bobbi Kristina was found face down in the bathtub of her Georgia home. After months in a coma, Bobbi Kristina Brown died on July 26, 2015. She was only 22 years old. 

Although Lifetime already did a biopic on Whitney, for some reason, TV One decided on a biopic solely focused on Bobbi Kristina. The channel said in a statement, "If there’s one thing we know how to do well, its telling compelling, raw stories about celebrities in and around the music industry (cough — Unsung — cough). So you shouldn’t be surprised that we set our sights on the life of Bobbi Kristina, the daughter of pop music royalty whose whole story has NEVER been told."
The backlash on social media was swift and now that the movie is set to air in less than a month. Bobby Brown has responded — with a lawsuit. According to the New York Post, "the film suggests Brown 'does not love his daughter [and is not] committed to his daughter,' Bobby claims in a Manhattan Federal Court lawsuit. The 'defamatory and untrue' film tries to profit off Brown’s pain, insists the 'My Prerogative' singer, who denies being abusive to his family."
The producers on the biopic, Tracey Baker-Simmons and Wanda Shelley, worked with Bobby on his 2004 reality show Being Bobby Brown. He claims they unfairly took advantage of their previous work with Brown to make the movie and "Brown is also seeking $1 million damages from the biopic’s production companies, TV One LLC, Simmons Shelley entertainment and their affiliates. Baker-Simmons and Shelley couldn’t be reached."

TV One already responded to Bobby Brown in a statement to E!, stating they “stand by the film and its representation of this period in Bobbi Kristina’s life."
