Bye, Kevin: Whoopi Goldberg Makes The Academy Awards An Offer It Shouldn’t Refuse

This is pretty genius.

Now that Kevin Hart is no longer in the running to host the 91st annual Academy Awards, several other celebrities' names are being thrown into the ring, but the Academy is yet to settle on one, just yet.

One person who is convinced she has the ideal pick, however, is The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg, and we can't say we see any fault in her choice.

According to People, Goldberg, who hosted the Oscars, herself, in 1994, 1996, 1999 and 2002, is offering to do the job herself.

In response to Variety's report that the Academy may skip hiring a host for the show, altogether, the experienced hostess shared, on The View, her thoughts, and offered her talents.

"If you want to go host-less, that's your prerogative," she said. "I think it's a dumb idea because people need somebody to take them through things and to take care of things when they happen. Now, I realize I may not be anybody's first choice, but..."

After the show's studio audience erupted in applause, seemingly co-signing her suggestion, Goldberg admitted that there may be some reservations when it comes to picking her for the gig.

"I'm also problematic," she added. "Half of the country sometimes is really mad at me, the other half is OK until tomorrow, and then they're pissed at me."

Watch her explain her stance, below:
