Box Office: Jurassic World, Inside Out Dominate the Weekend

Dope brought in $6 million.

Jurassic World shows no signs of quitting its reign at the box office. The franchise reboot took the top spot for the second week in a row, edging out Inside Out for the crown.

The film, which stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, brought in $102 million for its second weekend and its domestic total is just under $400 million. The global total stands at $981 million after less than two weeks — that number should cross $1 billion sometime this week.

Disney/Pixar’s family friendly Inside Out came in second place with an amazing $91 million, and while it didn't finish first, the film did manage to break some records — it now holds the record for biggest opening weekend of a totally original film, beating out Avatar's $77 million resoundingly.
Rounding out the top five were Melissa McCarthy‘s Spy with $10.5 million, Dwayne Johnson‘s San Andreas with $8.2 million and the Sundance favorite Dope with $6 million, which fell below the high expectations at the box office despite critical raves and tremendous buzz.
Despite its numbers, Dope is still the dopest film of the summer. Check out out interview with A$AP Rocky, who stars in the film, below:
