Dream Team: Viola Davis, Denzel Washington Partner Up for Fences
Alert the Academy! Viola Davis and Denzel Washington are teaming up to bring Broadway hit Fences to the big screen, the actress confirmed to the New York Times.
Fences focuses on the Black experience in Pittsburgh in the 20th century. The original 1987 production, starring James Earl Jones, was the prize-winning playwright's biggest commercial successes. Davis and Washington starred in the revival, and Washington will direct the two-time Oscar and two-time Tony nominee in the movie adaptation.
Davis is certainly not taking it easy during her hiatus from How to Get Away With Murder: the actress reportedly signed on for three more Suicide Squad films and is producing a biopic on groundbreaking congresswoman Barbara Jordan.
