Social Media President: Obama's Best Photo Opps

Lightning bolt with Usain, Al Green, and trash talk on IG.

Bolt of Lightning - Social media played a big part in President Obama's election to office, and he hasn't forgotten his digital roots. Recently, the Tweeter-in-Chief has been on somewhat of a social media tear. Here are a few of the president's most memorable antics and photo opps. While on a state visit to Jamaica, the president spent some time with Usain Bolt, the world's fastest man, after a town hall meeting. Obama — an avid runner himself — gamely did Bolt's signature lightning bolt pose with the Olympian, who later posted a video of the goofy moment on Instagram. (Photo: Instagram /Usain Bolt)
Historic Handshake - After half a century of rocky — at best — relations, the President made history this week when he shook hands with Cuban leader Raúl Castro at the Summit of the Americas in Panama City. The brief gesture was so important that it warranted its own press release from the National Security Council. The moment was captured on camera and blasted around the world via social media, symbolizing a new day in US-Cuba relations.(Photo: Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images)
Super Power Selfie - In perhaps not the best-timed move, Barack Obama and British prime minister David Cameron leaned in for a selfie with Helle Thorning-Schmidt, the Danish prime minister, at a memorial service for Nelson Mandela in Johannesburg in 2013.The world leaders caught a lot of heat for the seemingly disrespectful photo opp, but the lure of the selfie is strong.   (Photo: ROBERTO SCHMIDT/AFP/Getty Images)Covering Al Green - Sometimes it's hard to imagine how even President Obama's fiercest opponents can resist his charm. The President wowed an audience at a fundraiser at the Apollo Theater in New York in 2012 by singing the opening line from Al Green's classic, "Let's Stay Together." A clip from the event immediately went viral, and it was soon released as a free ringtone on Obama's re-election campaign site. (Photo: Channel 4 News Via Youtube)
