Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan Land New Projects

The Creed star steps behind the camera for his upcoming gig.

Black Hollywood's finest aren't taking any breaks for the holidays and have already lined up new projects for the new year.

Chadwick Boseman will continue his biopic winning streak: the actor has signed on to portray Thurgood Marshall in an upcoming courtroom thriller centered around the first Black Supreme Court justice. Meanwhile, Creed star Michael B. Jordan smartly signed on for a project that won't require him to do a single bench press: he will be co-writing an original comic series with Dark Horse Comics titled North.

Boseman, who has earned rave reviews for his performances in 42 and Get On Up, is about to become a household name following his upcoming role as superhero Black Panther in Captain America: Civil War. He seems to be working hard to balance his superhero image with serious, dramatic roles, such as the as-yet-untitled Marshall film, which has the full support of the Marshall estate.
The film will focus on Marshall as a young lawyer defending a poor Black chauffeur against his wealthy employer in a sexual assault and attempted murder case. Teaming up with Jewish lawyer Samuel Friedman, the two defy fear, prejudice and a segregationist court to help lay the groundwork for the civil rights movement. We can smell the Oscar already.
Jordan, who is enjoying the box office success of his latest film Creed (which has now grossed nearly $80 million at the box office domestically) will put pen to paper for his next project. He will co-author the comic book series North, telling the story of a soldier who is recruited by a secret paramilitary organization to be genetically modified and turned into a super spy. After an operation fails, he is betrayed by the organization that created him, but they soon discover they created a formidable adversary. The series will be co-penned by Nathan Edmonson, who has written for The Punisher and Black Widow, and could be an eventual producing vehicle for Jordan.
