The Huxtables: TV's Most Iconic Black Family - Believe it or not, this week marks the 32nd anniversary of The Cosby Show premiere, and the series changed television forever. The extremely popular multi-Emmy Award-winning sitcom was the No. 1 show in the country for five of its eight seasons. The Cosby Show has been plagued with controversy since several women came forward claiming they were drugged and sexually assaulted by Bill Cosby. Phylicia Rashad - Phylicia Rashad portrayed Clair Hanks Huxtable, the sexy, witty but stern lawyer, wife and mom on the groundbreaking sitcom. Rashad reteamed twice with her TV husband in the '90s post-Cosby Show, first on the series Cosby and later as a voice actor on the animated kids show Little Bill. In the 2000s, she starred in the TV movies A Raisin in The Sun and Steel Magnolias. Rashad also appeared in the feature films Frankie & Alice and For Colored Girls. Sabrina Le Beauf - Sondra, the oldest child of the Huxtable clan, played by Sabrina Le Beauf, famously did not appear in the pilot episode. Michelle Thomas - Steve Urkel finally stopped pining for Laura Winslow for a spell when he got his first real on screen girlfriend in Myra Monkhouse, portrayed by Michelle Thomas. The former Cosby Show recurring star, dated Malcolm-Jamal Warner in real life and went on to star in The Young and the Restless and the film Unbowed. Michelle Thomas - Michelle Thomas portrayed Justine Phillips, the pretty yet spunky girlfriend of Theo. Art imitated life when Thomas and Malcolm-Jamal Warner went on to become a couple in real life. The actress later became best known as Myra Monkhouse on Family Matters for six seasons and she also appeared in an NAACP Image Award-nominated role on The Young and the Restless. Raven-Symoné - The family series got a new injection of cuteness when Raven-Symoné was selected to play Denise's perky stepdaughter Olivia. She followed The Cosby Show's end with a stint on Hanging With Mr. Cooper, but her role as Raven Baxter on That's So Raven for four seasons rebranded her as a TV mogul. The highly successful series helped to up Symoné's worth up to $45 million dollars in 2009. The actress also starred in the films Dr. Doolittle 2, Fat Albert and College Road Trip.
