Jeannie Mai Tears Up While Comparing Her Relationship With Jeezy To Her Ex-Husband

She says her new man has been her “upgrade.”

It’s no secret that Jeannie Mai is very happy in her new relationship with Jeezy, but now she’s expressing just how much the Atlanta rapper changed her outlook on love.

While co-hosting The Real, Mai began to tear up when speaking about how much of an improvement Jeezy’s been to her life and the difference between him and her past relationships with men.

“When [Freddy] said things like ‘good for you’ or ‘that’s cool,’ I’m like, that’s great, he supports me! That to me is my standard of support. I didn’t even know until my new relationship that something as basic …” she said, before trailing off and tearing up. “I’m not crying to feel bad. It was just so touchy. But even something as basic as, like, at his birthday party, he left his own birthday to drive me to the airport…he was like ‘are you kidding? I want to see you off.'”

With her co-hosts in agreement, Jeannie fought back her tears, told everyone not to feel sorry for her, and imparted some great advice. “Be mindful of your standards,” she said, “Sometimes being alone in that time I took for myself, was my upgrade.”

Jeannie Mai was married to Freddy Harteis from 2007 to 2017 before finalizing their divorce in December 2018. She went public with her relationship with Jeezy last month.
