Chris Rock, Selma Win National Board of Review Awards
Selma's awards hot streak continues, and the season is just getting started. Following the film's multiple Independent Spirit Award nominations, the civil rights drama has won a National Board of Review Freedom of Expression award.
Starring David Oyelowo as Martin Luther King Jr., Ava DuVernay's drama is generating major buzz going into the Oscars. The film is expected to land several nominations, and if the early awards and critical acclaim are any indication, DuVernay and Oyelowo can start writing their acceptance speeches now.
Chris Rock was also recognized by the NBR with a Spotlight Award for writing, directing and starring in Top Five.
