SMH: Ayesha Curry Reveals Her Dad Was Racially Profiled

Did the NBA disrespect Steph Curry's father-in-law?

Last night was not a good one for the Currys.
Soon after Stephen Curry was ejected in the fourth quarter from Game 6 of the NBA Finals, essentially handing the win to LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, Ayesha Curry let out her frustration on Twitter and revealed that it wasn't just the Cavs fans in the arena who were unwelcoming to her family — but that officials outside the stadium had racially profiled her dad on his way in.

Fans came after Curry for angrily tweeting that she felt the game was rigged after Curry's ejection, and that's when she explained the cause of her anger:

The NBA, however, shared a slightly different version of the story with the media. According to ESPN, it was NBA security who stopped Ayesha's dad at the gate after mistaking him for notorious fake credential artist David Aminzadeh, who has a history of sneaking in to countless major sporting events.
Quicken Loans Arena security checked the credentials of the father of Curry's wife, Ayesha, because they thought he looked like Aminzadeh, before determining they were mistaken, an NBA official said.
Stephen Curry spoke to reporters about the incident after the game. "I was just kind of debriefed on what the security thought happened with some guy that poses with fake credentials and gets backstage at a lot of events, the NBA Finals and all that stuff," Curry told ESPN's The Undefeated blog as he departed from the arena. "They kind of profiled my father-in-law and thought he was him. They threatened to arrest him before they checked out his credentials. It's kind of been an emotional and tough night all the way around.

"That was kind of a traumatic situation where her [Ayesha's] dad almost got arrested. So it was kind of a tough situation to deal with in a hostile environment. All in all, it's just a game. I hope that everybody is all right."
Considering this alleged racial profiling went down in Cleveland, it's only going to fire up Golden State Warriors fans even more ahead of Game 7 in Oakland. Meanwhile, it seems like the pressure of the NBA Finals is getting to Ayesha as much as to Steph. See how the super-WAG dealt with Steph's thirstiest fan with BET Breaks, above.
