Wakanda Forever: A 'Black Panther' Sequel Has Officially Been Confirmed

Are you ready for part two?

While Marvel's introductory film to Wakandan superhero Black Panther continues to break records, recently crossing the $1 billion mark in worldwide sales, the studio is confirming that a sequel is definitely on-track to happen.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed the news to Entertainment Weekly this past Friday. While he stated that a part two will definitely be coming, he specified that there's nothing concrete to share just yet on the project.

"Nothing specific to reveal, other than to say we absolutely will do that," he said. "One of the favorite pastimes at Marvel Studios is sitting around on a Part One and talking and dreaming about what we would do in a Part Two. There have been plenty of those conversations as we were putting together the first Black Panther. We have ideas and a pretty solid direction on where we want to head with the second one."

Black Panther completely annihilated the competition at the box office from its opening weekend on February 16 to now. It has earned more than $500 million, domestically, thus far, putting it in the top 10 of the highest grossing films of all time. On the worldwide front, it has, as of writing, officially surpassed the $1 billion mark after amassing $48.2 million over the course of its first two days screening in China. The film stands as the 33rd movie in history to achieve this feat.

If you can't wait to see T'Challa and the crew in a few more years, no worries. You can get your Wakanda fix in the upcoming Marvel film, Avengers: Infinity War, set to hit theaters on April 27, 2018.
