L&HH's Mendeecees Has an Interesting Plan to Get Out of Prison

Kids are involved.

Love & Hip Hop: New York star Mendeecees Harris is currently serving an eight-year prison sentence for running a drug trafficking ring, but he allegedly is pleading with the court to reduce his sentence so he can educate kids about the dangers of drugs.

According to Bossip, the reality star filed papers earlier this week asking a judge to lessen his sentence by three years. He claims this request is justified as he's accomplished a lot so far while being locked up.

Mendeecees struck a plea deal in 2015 in the criminal case where he was accused of running a drug ring in upstate New York. Prosecutors accused him of shipping upwards from $2.5 million of heroin and cocaine going on more than seven years.

The deal, which stated that he would face up to 10 years in prison and pay a fine of up to $5 million wasn't all. He was also required to turn in all of his checks from the VH1 reality show — they totaled more than $170,000. He also had to give up his luxury car and all cash earned from personal appearances.

While the prosecution agreed that nine years was fair, the judge took off another year, resulting in Mendeecees ending up serving eight years and one month in prison, in addition to five years of supervised release.

He checked into prison at the top of this year. At the end of October, however, his attorney filed a motion to reduce his prison sentence. He explained in the motion that his client, being a reality star and known public figure, used his celebrity status to reach out to young people and warn them of the dangers of drugs and the lifestyle that comes with it.

The attorney also said that Mendeecees voluntarily surrendered to the Department of Bureau of Prisons and actually has a job waiting for him when he is released.

Mendeecees is asking that the judge reduce his sentence from eight to 5.2 years. The judge will make a decision later this month.
