TV Land Pulls Dukes of Hazzard Over Confederate Flag

The show faced protests following Charleston massacre.

The Dukes of Hazzard has been taken off of TV Land's lineup after fans protested the show's use of the Confederate flag, says the Hollywood Reporter. The network pulled reruns of the classic sitcom amid a growing public outcry over the flag after the Charleston massacre.
The Confederate Flag has been taken off the shelves of WalMart, Target and many other retailers in response to the protests, with citizens feeling the imagery is provocative and insensitive following the murder of nine people at the historically Black Emanuel AME church.
Dukes of Hazzard star John Schneider defended the series' use of the flag in a recent interview, saying that "labeling anyone who has the flag a racist seems unfair to those who are clearly 'never meanin' no harm,'" he said. His co-star Ben Jones has also come out in defense of the flag, saying it represents the "indomitable spirit of independence."
Clearly, the network sides with the public on this one.
