You Won't Believe What Haters Are Saying About This Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan Photo

The opinions on the powerful image are pretty shocking.

Film collaborators Michael B. Jordan and Ryan CooglerFruitvale Station and Creed — are the butt of some prejudice comments across social media after they posed for a glamour shot for Vanity Fair. The photo, which shows Jordan cupping Coogler's head in his palm, seems to upset some folks who feel like it goes against the rules of structured masculinity and promotes intimacy between two men.

The folks at The Grio posted the image to social media to see how their readers would respond, and while the responses were varied, the backlash outweighed the praise. One commenter said the image portrayed emasculation:

"Nah, f**k that, we need a masculine strong image in Black America not something that [portrays] emasculation," the commenter wrote. "Black people don't control the magazine and media. So we are not the fault era [sic] of the image but people are allowed to react to emasculation however they want to. And this is whack!"

Another commenter thought the pose was a poor choice that ruffled a few feathers, even going as far to say it "looks a lil' gay." "Majority of people seem like they are answering off of emotion... Defending these brothers... But with no emotion," he wrote. "At first glance. It looks a lil' gay to me... Not a lot. Just a lil'. Enough where I wouldn't wanna be touched and pose for a pic like this."

Not everyone is against the photo choice. One commenter said Black unity between men should be celebrated more often: "I don't understand why this photo is disturbing," she wrote. "Oh wait, two Black men united is a no no. I forgot about that. They're supposed to be shooting at one another... FOH."

Adding to the positive perspectives, Mic News' senior correspondent Darnell L. Moore encourages everyone to have a less skewed and manufactured perspective on the photo:
