Kim Kardashian Responds to Blackface Allegations

A new photo of the reality star sparked outrage on Twitter.

Kim Kardashian found herself in the middle of a firestorm over the weekend when a new photo of the reality star to promote her upcoming beauty line surfaced — and she looked like she was wearing blackface.
Now, the media and makeup mogul has responded to the accusations with her characteristic bluntness.

Kim tells the New York Times, “I would obviously never want to offend anyone. I used an amazing photographer and a team of people. I was really tan when we shot the images, and it might be that the contrast was off,” Kardashian said. “But I showed the image to many people, to many in the business. No one brought that to our attention. No one mentioned it.”
She continued, "Of course, I have the utmost respect for why people might feel the way they did. But we made the necessary changes to that photo and the rest of the photos. We saw the problem, and we adapted and changed right away. Definitely I have learned from it."

Of course, this isn't the first time a Kardashian has been accused of appropriating Blackness, and it won't be the last. But with so much practice, it seems like they're getting better at the apologies.
