Hollywood Wasting No Time Getting Started on Rachel Dolezal Biopic
While the Internet tries to figure out whether Rachel Dolezal is a fraud, a hero or something in between, Hollywood is scrambling for the movie rights to her story.
Dolezal, the president of the NAACP's chapter in Spokane, Wash., became a trending topic on Friday when her parents revealed she's actually a blond-haired, blue-eyed Caucasian from Montana and not a light-skinned sister as she had been passing herself off for the past several years.
The story has all the trappings of a great film. Variety.com is predicting a biopic is inevitable and points out it's "both a tabloid freak show that can be enjoyed as pure media circus, but it is also resonant on a deeper level regarding the complex debate over race in America that has been raging lately."
While we don't know which producers have camped out in front of Dolezal's house trying to get her life story rights, we're sure many are vying for the chance to turn her bizarre story into ratings or Oscar gold.
The only question that remains is whether the film will be a comedy or a drama. In the meantime, let the casting suggestions begin!
