Bill Cosby Resigns From Temple University Board of Trustees
The fallout from Bill Cosby's sex abuse scandal continues. The embattled comedian has resigned from the board of trustees at Temple University, the school said in a statement on Monday.
"I have always been proud of my association with Temple University. I have always wanted to do what would be in the best interests of the university and its students. As a result, I have tendered my resignation from the Temple University Board of Trustees," Cosby, who is an alumnus of Temple U, said in a statement.
"The Board of Trustees accepts Dr. Cosby's resignation from the board and thanks him for his service to the university," the school said in a statement.
The resignation is the latest in a series of setbacks for Cosby's career since allegations of rape and sexual abuse have resurfaced. In the wake of the mounting accusations, Netflix cancelled a planned Thanksgiving comedy special and NBC scrapped plans for a Cosby comeback sitcom. The comedian has also seen several of his tour dates cancelled, though he did recieve standing ovations following his gigs in Florida and the Bahamas.
