Police Say Man Killed Pregnant Girlfriend, Stuffed Her In A Suitcase, And Left It In A Storage Unit

Shannon Mani was found with duct tape over her eyes as well as gunshot and stab wounds.

A Milwaukee man has been arrested and charged with killing his pregnant girlfriend, stuffing her in a suitcase, and putting her body in a storage locker.

27-year-old Quentin Neal has been charged with one count each of first-degree intentional homicide, first-degree intentional homicide of an unborn child and possession of a firearm by a felon. Neal faces life in prison for both homicide charges.

Neal is accused of killing his girlfriend, 21-year-old Shannon D. Mani, who was four-months-pregnant at the time, reported the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Police began a search for Mani on April 13 after she failed to pick up her brother from school, causing her parents to worry.

Although Neal first told police he had not seen Mani on the day of her disappearance, cell phone records indicated that Mani's cellphone had last been active at about 1:30 p.m. April 13 in the area of Neal's residence, according to a criminal complaint.

Eventually, Neal changed his story and told investigators that Mani had been inside his home on the day of her disappearance and he may have killed her in self-defense.

In a statement to authorities, Neal said he and Mani got into an argument when she grabbed a gun that he said he acquired for his own protection. Neal told investigators Mani also grabbed a kitchen knife. Neal said when Mani tried to shoot him with the gun, it didn’t fire because the safety was on.

Neal told police he then shot her twice in the head and cut her with a knife, according to a criminal complaint.

Neal also allegedly admitted to putting her body in a suitcase and taking it to his storage locker.

When police opened the storage locker, they found Mani with her head was wrapped in a black bag and duct tape wrapped around her eyes, ankles, and wrists. Inside of the suitcase, they also found bloody towels, duct tape, a knife handle and a knife blade, the complaint said.

According to an official autopsy performed by the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office, Mani’s face had multiple stab wounds as two gunshot wounds to her head.

No motive has been determined.
