In his cover story for Ebony magazine's August issue, Michael Strahan opens up about his bitter divorce from Jean Muggli and how life has changed since that experience eight years ago. The former NFL player, who now blesses Live! with Kelly and Michael viewers with his smile, isn't doing too shabby since and hasn't let his failed marriage keep him from seeking love again.
"When you get divorced, people get upset, angry and say crazy things," Strahan said. “You have to take it. But it wasn’t easy. It was hard as hell."
Now that he's lived and learned through that, he's ready to move on with Nicole Murphy of Hollywood Exes. The couple got engaged in 2009 and Strahan said that the pair have found a way to keep their feet firmly on the ground despite their celebrity.
"For us it's key that we maintain normalcy," he said. "We have a great life. People can buy into their own celebrity, and that's a dangerous thing."
As for what allowed him to mature and handle his biz like a man, Strahan credits attending a historically Black college for his studies.
"I went to Texas Southern, an HBCU. People can say what they want about those schools, but TSU taught me how to go from being a boy to a man."
