Look: Many Are Justifiably Concerned Trump's Top Advisor, Steven Bannon, Is OK With Limiting Black Votes

Here's what his former co-writer had to say about his beliefs.

A former associate of Donald Trump’s new chief advisor Steve Bannon has come forward to repudiate claims that he is a racist. However, Julia Jones, who once co-wrote Hollywood scripts with Bannon, told The New York Times that Bannon once confided a belief that limiting the voting rights of African-Americans is “not such a bad thing.”

Jones said that during their time together, Bannon once talked about limiting the vote to people who own property.

“I said, ‘That would exclude a lot of African-Americans,’” Jones told The New York Times. “He said, ‘Maybe that’s not such a bad thing.’ I said, ‘But what about Wendy?’” referring to Bannon’s African-American executive assistant. “He said, ‘She’s different. She’s family.’”

And even though Jones also claimed that he would at times talk about the genetic superiority of some people, she still said that she did not think Bannon was a racist.

“He’s using the alt-right — using them for power,” Jones said.

In 2012, Bannon took control of Breitbart.com. As a result, the site published articles that offered racist views on Muslims, immigrants, Blacks and Jews. Bannon, along with Breitbart News, drew a large following of white supremacists.

Although some defenders of Bannon make the claim that he is using the loyalty of the racist Breitbart readers to gain power, one can only assume that someone who uses an online platform to perpetuate ideas of hate is someone who stands behind similar ideas.
