Georgia Woman Arrested for Filing Fake $94 Million Tax Return

Brigitte Jackson and her cousin Darrius White are facing criminal charges after trying to pick up their refunds.

According to one Georgia woman’s tax return, the state owed her $94 million, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution recently reported.

But when Brigitte Jackson went to a local bank to try to pick up her check, authorities arrested her, claiming that the huge claim was false. It turns out that Jackson had reported $99 million in income.

“It doesn’t matter if it’s $94 or $94 million,” Special Investigations Chief Josh Waites of the Georgia Department of Revenue told WSB-TV. “We’re going to go after you and hold you accountable.”

Jackson was charged on Friday with attempted theft and conspiracy to defraud the state.

Her cousin Darrius White, who also allegedly claimed an income of $99 million, has been charged as well.

“They kept calling to check on their refund,” Waites told WSB-TV. Investigators recorded those phone calls, which helped to bring criminal charges against them.
