Chad Johnson Regrets Domestic Violence Arrest

Former NFL star says three seconds of anger cost him work.

Gone in three seconds. That's how long Chad Johnson thinks it took for his football career to be dashed after one regrettable night.

The former NFL Pro Bowl wide receiver took to his Twitter account early Thursday to express regret for his August 2012 domestic violence incident and subsequent arrest in which he allegedly head-butted his then-wife Evelyn Lozada, opening a gash on her forehead.

"3 seconds of anger cost me a lifetimes worth of work," Johnson tweeted, accompanying a courtroom picture of him in shackles. "I LOVE everything in sight for a reason, those few seconds I stopped doing so."

Following his arrest for the incident, his then-team, the Miami Dolphins, cut him before the 2012 season and Johnson hasn't been able to make his way back into the NFL since. When Johnson says his bad decision cost him work, he's probably right, considering he could have still been playing in the league and even contributing as a contender.

Instead, Johnson, 36, has been relegated to playing wideout for the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League.

More recently, Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice was controversially suspended for two games of the 2014 season stemming from his own domestic violence arrest in February. Rice was later accepted into a pretrial intervention program, which allowed assault charges against him to be dropped and for him to avoid jail time. Rice allegedly struck his then-fiancée, now wife, Janay Palmer in an Atlantic City, New Jersey, hotel casino. Footage of the running back dragging her unconscious body off the elevator has been at the center of the debate.

"I made the biggest mistake of my life," Rice told media, as reported by ESPN, on Thursday.
