Joe Carter Thanks Drake for Using Iconic World Series Image as Cover Art
Drake's "Back to Back" track is still buzzing since he released it in the wee hours of Wednesday morning, taking more shots at Meek Mill.
While fans continue to talk about the track and wonder when Meek will finally respond with a diss track of his own aimed at Drizzy, "Back to Back" has caught the attention of one former star athlete — Joe Carter.
For the cover art of the track, Drake used the iconic image of Carter jumping for joy after smashing a three-run, walk-off home run to lift the Toronto Blue Jays over the Philadelphia Phillies in the 1993 World Series. The victory marked back-to-back World Series titles for Toronto at the time, thus the tie-in. It was also the second unanswered track that Drake launched against Meek this week.
The symbolism of the cover art was also Drake trying to say that Toronto, his hometown, is defeating Philadelphia, Meek's city, yet again. Pretty clever.
Carter caught wind of the whole thing and shouted out Drake for making him cool again.
From the man himself. Kind of cool, right?
